Laser genital wart removal in Tijuana
Genital warts are the visible sign of some types of human papillomavirus (HPV). They are removed in an outpatient procedure under anesthesia, with follow-up because they can come back.

Genital wart removal: what it involves
Laser and electrosurgery destroy or remove the warts while sparing the healthy skin around them. It can be done in the office or an outpatient operating room, under local or general anesthesia depending on the number and extent of lesions.
Removing the warts does not remove the virus: in most people the immune system controls it over time. The plan therefore includes partner evaluation, a conversation about vaccination and monitoring over the following months.
When is it recommended?
- Warts on the penis, scrotum, pubic area, groin or around the anus
- Lesions inside the urethral opening
- Warts that did not respond to topical treatment
- Numerous, large or bleeding lesions
The indication is confirmed at your evaluation.
How the procedure goes
Exam
The diagnosis is confirmed by inspection and, if in doubt, biopsy. We look for lesions that are easy to miss.
Anesthesia
Local for a few lesions; sedation or general anesthesia when they are extensive.
Removal
Each lesion is treated with laser or electrosurgery. Time depends on the number of lesions.
Follow-up
A visit to check healing and catch any new lesion early.
Recovery and aftercare
Treated skin heals in one to three weeks. Gentle cleaning, ointment if needed, and no sexual activity until the area has fully healed.
You will receive written instructions and a phone number for questions.
Before you decide
Can warts come back?
Yes. It is fairly common in the first months, because the virus can remain in normal-looking skin. That is why follow-up visits are scheduled.
Should my partner be checked?
It is advisable. Women should keep their Pap or HPV testing up to date with their gynecologist.
Is the HPV vaccine useful if I already have HPV?
The vaccine does not treat a current infection, but it protects against other types of the virus. Whether it makes sense at your age is discussed at the visit.
This page offers general information and does not replace a medical visit. Every case is assessed individually; results and recovery times vary from person to person.
